I love my dad…

This is he talking me for a walk last weekend…

We went on that floating walkway thingy at New Farm then up under the Story Bridge.

It was super cool – just like him.

Introducing…Gizmo!

Posted in Family & Friends on July 20, 2010 by beatricebella

Hi all! Hope you’re having a woof-tastic week! Well I have finally recovered from my stupor of exhaustion and as promised tonight I present to you the final installment of my road-trip adventures! This is super exciting ’cause I get to introduce you to one of my new best buddies – the mighty Gizmo!  Gizzy lives with mum’s parents down south and is one cool operator.  This is the second time I’ve met him and I’m relieved to say that I’ve FINALLY been given the lick of approval to join his pack! Yippee! For ages he treated me like a baby and wouldn’t play with me, but after some persuasive words from mum and dad, who’ve known Giz since he was a tiny pup and came to live with the family seven years ago, he decided I was sort of okay.

Giz is a pure-bred red kelpie. I can tell you he is super fit and mighty fine, I might even have a tiny crush on him – but don’t tell mum and dad – they think I’m too young to be into boys just yet.

Cause Giz was initially a bit wary of my foolish puppy shenanigans he was kept tied up. I like to think this was ’cause he couldn’t keep his paws off me. Actually I’m sure all that growling in my direction was reverse psychology…

After all – he sure seemed to like sniffing my butt…

…of course I reciprocated by giving him a coy little sniff as well…(but I had to do it quick so mum and dad didn’t notice!).

After we’d sized each other up it was time for some posing – we had to impress each other after all!

Giz did his best impression of a Qantas A380…

I sat as elegantly as possible and tried to look unimpressed…

Giz showed me his best angle…

…so I showed him mine…

Before long it was clear that something was in the air…

Was it love? …or had he just rolled in a recently dead animal…?

Whatever it was I didn’t have much time…

Mum and dad would be onto me before long…

I struck as many alluring poses as possible in the short space of time…

Madly trying to make the best impression possible…

I finished with a magnificent leap designed to show off my athletic prowess…

…and my cute hind-quarter…! Mum and dad were NOT impressed….

But Gizmo was…

…and sometimes people, that’s all that matters…

Shoes life…

Posted in Travel on July 19, 2010 by beatricebella

Hi all. Had hoped to post tonight on the final leg of my exciting road-trip down south but had a big afternoon at the dog park playing with my super-cool pal Nina – which, along with the tedious Australian election campaign(!), wore me out completely.  This was on top of a fab weekend-long sleep-over at my place last week with my older cousin Gigi! But more on our adventures later…

Anyway – after playing like crazy with the gals – who are both V’s like me, I’m officially EXHAUSTED!!! So today instead of sorting through pics from my road-trip I did another quick raid on mum and dad’s photo album. They took this pic in Prague…it’s gotta be a shoe in for my favourite!

Rip tear…

Posted in Outings on July 18, 2010 by beatricebella

Hi all. Well it won’t be news to anyone that going to the beach is one of my favourite things. To cap off last week’s road-trip down south the folks decided to surprise me with a quick visit.

As you can see I indulged in my new favourite pastime – ball catching, as well the perennial favourite – digging giant holes for no good reason!

I also gave the soccer ball a good work-out (after being inspired by watching so much of the World Cup with dad!).

It was a beautiful day – but I wasn’t allowed to go swimming ’cause mum said there was a rip (whatever that is it must be BAD – last time I heard it  I was on the end of a major chastising from mum – just ’cause I took a running leap at her and swung from the back of her new trousers with my teeth! Geez it was FUN – until the material tore and I fell off – but mum was really upset so I won’t do that again!).

Anyway hope you enjoyed these pics. Last installment from my road trip coming soon…

Supersize me…

Posted in Family & Friends on July 15, 2010 by beatricebella

Hi all. What you are about to hear is gonna sound mighty strange, you may think I’m pulling your hindquarter, but I swear – it’s true –  SOMEBODY SUPER-SIZED A COCKATIEL!! Yes that’s right folks – some crazy person has gone and enlarged to giant proportions Kostya, the tiny ‘tiel who lives in my backyard at home, and turned HIM INTO SOME GIANT SQUEALING BEAST OF A BIRD WITH AN EVIL HOOKED BEAK AND NASTY RASPING SHARP TALONS!!!!! Ohhh it was hideous – I don’t know how he got to my nanna’s house but it was like a nightmare I tell you. Worse still, dad was showing affection to this ugly creature – in preference to moi!!?? Hello people – what’s gone wrong with the world – is this some strange parallel universe I ask you??!!

My loyal readers will know from earlier posts just how much love I have for my tiny cockatiel companions (Er…that would be about none to the uninitiated…).

So can you imagine my absolute joy to be suddenly competing for dad’s affections with a monster (and I don’t mean my mum people – though she can be perfectly awful at times too). Anyway look at the evidence and judge for yourself, am I right or am I right people?  Evil…

…hideous

BEAST!!!!!

PARENT STEALER!!!!!!!

Suddenly I was awoken from my exhausted slumber…was it all just a bad bad dream!!!??? HALLELUJAH PEOPLE!!!  ….it was really just my new stuffed duck toy the whole time…or was it??!!!!

Postscript: Dear readers I later found out it wasn’t a dream at all – the beast was really dad’s mum’s pet cockatoo!!! I mean seriously  – it’s bad enough having to deal with a cockatiel or three – this was ridiculous!  Worse still I was told  I couldn’t bark at her (turned out it was a she), and worst of all I couldn’t even glare at her contemptuously  – I was ordered to show her respect…so what if she’s nearly 40 and older than dad!!!! JEEPERS CREEPERS!
